400 Kilometres of Runs in 15 Ski Areas

With 400 kilometres of runs, the 15 ski areas of Ortler Ski Arena offers skiers, snowboarders, and telemark skiers plenty of variety when it comes to carving and cruising. The options range from balmy sunny runs to glacier skiing, from simple wide runs to challenging runs in loose powder. Val Senales (Schnalstal) Ski Area, which is the only year-round ski area in Italy, and the glacial Solda (Sulden) Ski Area are both great places to do some off-piste carving.

    Solda Glacier Ski Area, which ranges between elevations of 1,900 and 3,250 metres, is ideally suited to expert skiers with high standards. Solda is considered to have particularly reliable snow conditions, and with 40 km of runs and modern infrastructure it really leaves nothing to be desired. Here, the winter season begins as early as mid-November and runs all the way into early May.

    Special tip for the truly committed skier:
    Try the König Ortler Runde (King Ortler Circuit), which is a combination of all three sections of Solda Glacier Ski Area: enjoy the morning sun at Langenstein, at the foot of the north face of Mount Ortler, be at Pulpito (Kanzel) by noon, and then take the cable car into Madritsch for the afternoon.

    Belpiano Ski Area in Upper Val Venosta (Vinschgau) is true to its name, which translates to “beautiful plateau”: seven ski lifts and runs of all difficulty levels offer ideal conditions for a families and leisure skiers. On these freshly groomed slopes and runs, everyone will find his or her own personal dream run. There truly is something here to suit all tastes, ranging from flat runs for beginners all the way up to expert runs. Thanks to its elevation, which ranges between 1,400 metres and 2,850 metres, and powerful snowmaking systems, Belpaino Ski Area offers reliable snow late into the spring.

    With more than 35 kilometres of perfectly groomed runs at elevations between 2,000 and 3,260 metres and glorious firn snow, Val Senales Ski Area means winter fun - both on and off the slopes. A special challenge for experiences skiers is the 8-km-long Schmuggler-Abfahrt, a quite difficult run that leads from Grawand at 3,212 metres down to Maso Corto (Kurzras) at 2,011 metres. Teufelseggpiste throws down the gauntlet, too. The cable car whisks skiers back up the glacier in just six minute: i.e., a good skier can manage up to 100 km of runs in just a single day of skiing.
